North Rim
Xanterra also takes care of lodging in the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, which is often booked several months or more in advance. The North Rim is more remote and lodging more scarce. The Grand Canyon Lodge, a National Historic Landmark, is located on the North Rim. It has a snack bar and dining room where you can make reservations for a fine meal overlooking the Canyon. There is also a North Rim campground that offers laundry and shower facilities and has a small general store on the premises.

Outside the Park

Grand Canyon lodging just outside this incredible rock formation may also be secured by visitors to Arizona. For travelers exploring the South Rim, lodging is available in nearby Tusayun. Some options include the historical 106 acre West Ranch, Moqui Lodge, and the Red Feather Lodge, which allows pets to stay in the motor lodge area. Flagstaff and Williams are also handy and affordable with lots of rooms to choose from. They're both only a short drive from the Canyon.

Adventurers to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon may stay a few miles outside the Park at Kaibob Lodge and Jacob Lake Inn. These are rustic motels for the most part, but some new construction has been taking place. There are also plentiful accomodations in Kanab, Utah, just a short drive to the North Rim.

The only lodging located beneath the rim is the Phantom Ranch, which may be reached by mule, horseback, hiking or rafting the Colorado River. The Phantom Ranch is situated beside the Bright Angel Creek on the north side of the Colorado River and offers cabins or dormatory-style rooms.

Visitors can purchase refreshments, light meals and miscellaneous sundries at the Phantom Ranch canteen. Like everything else in the Park, dinner at Phantom Ranch requres reservations well before your arrival date. You can make them at Grand Canyon Lodges.
